AQEEQAH MAKKAH

The Messenger of ALLAH (ﷺ) said: "Every child is in pledge for his Aqeeqah so slaughter for him on the seventh day, shave his head and name him." [At-Tirmidhi 1552; Ibn Majah 3165; Grade Hasan Sahih; Sunan an-Nasa'i 4220]

The meaning of the hadith is that if the aqeeqah is not done for the child and he dies in childhood, he will be prevented from interceding for his parents. Another explaination of the hadith is that the aqeeqah is a means of ridding the child of the Shaytaan and protecting him from it.
